Nutella Homemade Twix with Nutella Recipe

NUTELLA RECIPE: It’s no secret that I loves Nutella and that Twix is my favorite candy bar, and to my opinion Twix has no room for improvement, but I'm not crazy about all the additives. Twix is just perfect... though... i have gone a step forward and tried to combine it with Nutella, and honestly, it came out just as i expected... perfectly! In fact, it's probably the easiest copycat candy bar recipe I've made.

This recipe replicates the familiar flavors of the chocolate-covered caramel-and-shortbread cookies, but with high quality of the chocolate on top.

I fiddled with this recipe quite a bit. The problem is in the shortbread. That's what makes or breaks a homemade Twix bar in my opinion.

Most shortbread recipes are very flaky and crumbly, and that's just not going to work here. So I decided to add an egg and increase the flour content of a more traditional shortbread recipe. The process remains simple and the result is near perfect, if a little softer than the original.

    For the Shortbread:

    500gr All Purpose Flour

    400gr Unsalted Butter
    ( room temperature )

    170gr Powdered Sugar

    2 Eggs

    10gr Vanilla Extract

    5gr Salt



    For the Caramel Filling:

    900gr Soft Caramels
    ( Soft Caramel Recipe )

    60ml
    ( or Cream )

    Pinch of Salt
    ( optional )



    For the Chocolate:

    300gr Milk Chocolate Bar
    ( cut into pieces )

    300gr Nutella
    ( Homemade Nutella Recipe )




  • Imperial:

     

     

     

    For the Shortbread:

    1.1lb All Purpose Flour

    14.1oz Unsalted Butter
    ( room temperature )

    5.9oz Powdered Sugar

    2 Eggs

    0.35oz Vanilla Extract

    0.17oz Salt



    For the Caramel Filling:

    2lb Soft Caramels
    ( Soft Caramel Recipe )

    2.1oz
    ( or Cream )

    Pinch of Salt
    ( optional )



    For the Chocolate:

    10.5oz Milk Chocolate Bar
    ( cut into pieces )

    10.5oz Nutella
    ( Homemade Nutella Recipe )




  • Cups:

     

     

     

    For the Shortbread:

    5.5 cups All Purpose Flour

    2 cups Unsalted Butter
    ( room temperature )

    1.5 cups Powdered Sugar

    2 Eggs

    2 teaspoons Vanilla Extract

    1 teaspoon Salt



    For the Caramel Filling:

    4 cups Soft Caramels
    ( Soft Caramel Recipe )

    4 tablespoons
    ( or Cream )

    Pinch of Salt
    ( optional )



    For the Chocolate:

    2 regular Milk Chocolate Bars
    ( cut into pieces )

    1 cup Nutella
    ( Homemade Nutella Recipe )




 

 

 

Directions:


 

For the Shortbread:

01 - Preheat the oven to 150C / 300F and place the rack in the center of the oven.

02 - With an electric mixer or hand mixer, beat the Butter and Sugar until light and fluffy.

03 - Add the Egg and beat until well combined.

04 - Beat in the Vanilla Extract.

05 - Add the Flour and Salt and beat until the Dough just comes together.

06 - Refrigerate the Dough for 1 hour or until firm.

07 - Roll out the Dough and flat it onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

08 - Bake for 20-30 minutes, turning the baking sheet front-to-back half-way through baking.



For the Caramel Filling:

09 - Place the Caramel ( Soft Caramel Recipe ), Milk and Salt together in a pot over low heat and melt.

10 - Pour the Caramel over the baked Cookie.

11 - Once the Caramel has set, cut into whatever size pieces you desire.

12 - Chill in the freezer to firm up before dipping.

For the Chocolate:

13 - Melt the Chocolate Bar and the Nutella ( Homemade Nutella Recipe ).

14 - Dip the Bars in the tempered ( melted ) Chocolate and place on waxed or parchment paper to set. Do not attempt to move your Twix bars before they are set or they’re liable to come apart.

15 - Store in the fridge. Serve.
