Chili Lime Grilled Steak

TRADITIONAL AMERICAN RECIPE: Lime Seasoning is probably what gets me hits, and why this particular recipe is lately the most popular post. The blend is fantastic and cheap. I've been meaning to make my own version for a while now.

  • Metric:

     

     

     

    4 Boneless Rib-Eye Steaks

    ( about 300gr each ) or Filets Mignons ( trimmed )

     

    Juice of 3 Limes

     

    Zest of 3 Limes

     

    4gr Chili Powder

     

    4gr Cumin

     

    2gr Garlic Powder

     

    2gr Onion Powder

     

    2gr Salt

     

    2gr Coriander

     

    A pinch Sugar

     

    A pinch Cayenne

    ( more if you like it )




  • Imperial:

     

     

     

    4 Boneless Rib-Eye Steaks ( about 10oz each ) or Filets Mignons ( trimmed )

     

    Juice of 3 Limes

     

    Zest of 3 Limes

     

    0.14oz Chili Powder

     

    0.14oz Cumin

     

    0.07oz Garlic Powder

     

    0.07oz Onion Powder

     

    0.07oz Salt

     

    0.07oz Coriander

     

    A pinch Sugar

     

    A pinch Cayenne

    ( more if you like it )




  • Cups:

     

     

     

    4 Boneless Rib-Eye Steaks ( about 300gr / 10oz each ) or Filets Mignons ( trimmed )

     

    Juice of 3 Limes

     

    Zest of 3 Limes

     

    1 teaspoon Chili Powder

     

    1 teaspoon Cumin

     

    0.5 teaspoon Garlic Powder

     

    0.5 teaspoon Onion Powder

     

    0.5 teaspoon Salt

     

    0.5 teaspoon Coriander

     

    A pinch Sugar

     

    A pinch Cayenne

    ( more if you like it )




 

 

 

Directions:


 

01 - Gently, using a fork, punch some holes on the Meat and brush some Lime on top. Let it sit while you heat the grill.

 

02 - Heat your grill to high.

 

03 - For the Seasoning simply mix all Ingredients together.

 

04 - Liberally season the Meat both sides.

 

05 - Place the Steaks on the grill and cook until golden brown, 4 to 5 minutes.

 

06 - Turn the Steaks over and continue to grill 3 to 5 minutes for medium-rare ( internal temperature 57C / 135F ), 5 to 7 minutes for medium ( internal temperature 60C / 140F ) or 8 to 10 minutes for medium-well ( internal temperature 65C / 150F ).

 

( you can leave the Lime on top while cooking to enhance the flavour )

 

07 - Transfer the Steaks to a cutting board or platter, tent loosely with foil and let rest 5 minutes before slicing.

 

08 - Slice and add some extra Seasoning if required.





Notes:


 

- Lime can be swapped with a regular Lemon. Don't be shy about it.
