Fusilli Pasta with Anchovy and Tuna Sauce

TRADITIONAL ITALIAN RECIPE: This is a comforting, richly flavoured sauce, quick to make, with a healthy add of Anchovies.

 

A storecupboard cooking at its easiest. Virtually all you need is a can of tuna and a can of anchovies plus a couple of tomatoes, and in a matter of minutes you'll have one of the classics of Italian cooking on the table. The great thing about it is that it tastes as if you've gone to a lot of effort.

  • Metric:

     

     

     

    400gr Fusilli Pasta

     

    400gr Tomato Puree

    ( or any other Tomato Sauce )

     

    200gr Tuna

    ( well drained )

     

    50ml Extra Virgin Olive Oil

     

    2 Fillets of Anchovy

    ( chopped )

     

    2 Cloves of Garlic

    ( minced )

     

    10gr Parsley

    ( chopped )

     

    3gr Salt

    ( if needed )

     

    Chili Pepper

    ( to taste )




  • Imperial:

     

     

     

    0.8lb Fusilli Pasta

     

    0.8lb Tomato Puree

    ( or any other Tomato Sauce )

     

    7oz Tuna

    ( well drained )

     

    1.7oz Extra Virgin Olive Oil

     

    2 Fillets of Anchovy

    ( chopped )

     

    2 Cloves of Garlic

    ( minced )

     

    0.35oz Parsley

    ( chopped )

     

    0.1oz Salt

    ( if needed )

     

    Chili Pepper

    ( to taste )




  • Cups:

     

     

     

    5 hadfuls of Fusilli Pasta

     

    2 cups Tomato Puree

    ( or any other Tomato Sauce )

     

    2 Regular Cans of Tuna

    ( well drained )

     

    4 tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil

     

    2 Fillets of Anchovy

    ( chopped )

     

    2 Cloves of Garlic

    ( minced )

     

    1 tablespoon Parsley

    ( chopped )

     

    Salt

    ( if needed )

     

    Chili Pepper

    ( to taste )




 

 

 

Directions:


 

01 - Boil some water.

02 - In a pan, put the Oil, the minced Garlic, the chopped Anchovy Fillets and the Chili Pepper, stir and cook for 2 minutes.

03 - Salt the boiling water and put the Short Pasta to cook.

04 - Now, add the Tuna and the Tomato Puree ( or Tomato Sauce ) and cook it for 10 minutes, stiring from time to time.

05 - Add some water if you notice that it's too dry, anche choose whether you like it thick or watery.

06 - Add the Salt, Parsley and some Chili Pepper and mix it well, while you cook the sauce for a final few minutes.

07 - Combine with Fusilli Pasta. Serve.
