TRADITIONAL JAPANESE RECIPE: Pork Shabu Shabu Salad is a perfect dish for a hot summer day. It's very easy to cook and takes very little time to prepare. Technically Shabu Shaby is a Japanese hot pot dish (Nabemono), with beef instead of pork. But for this dish we'll use pork as it tastes better cold. Of course, if you wanna try a Shabu Shabu Salad with Beef, go ahead, why not?

You can add or replace different vegetables. Many people add Cucumber slices or grated Daikon radish to the salad.

Ingredients:

  • Metric:

     

     

     

    300gr Pork
    ( 75gr per person - Thinly sliced )

    1 Large Tomatoes
    ( chopped )

    160gr Lettuce
    ( 40gr per person )

    160gr Mizuna Salad
    ( 40gr per person )



    Dressing:

    72gr Soy Sauce

    64gr Rice Vinegar

    56gr Sesame Oil




  • Imperial:

     

     

     

    10.5oz Pork
    ( 2.6oz per person - Thinly sliced )

    1 Large Tomatoes
    ( chopped )

    5.6oz Lettuce
    ( 1.4oz per person )

    5.6oz Mizuna Salad
    ( 1.4oz per person )



    Dressing:

    2.5oz Soy Sauce

    2.2oz Rice Vinegar

    1.9oz Sesame Oil




  • Cups:

     

     

     

    2 cups Pork
    ( 0.5 cup per person - Thinly sliced )

    1 Large Tomatoes
    ( chopped )

    4 small portions Lettuce
    ( 1 small portion per person )

    4 small portions Mizuna Salad
    ( 1 small portion per person )



    Dressing:

    4 tablespoons Soy Sauce

    4 tablespoons Rice Vinegar

    4 tablespoons Sesame Oil




 

 

 

Directions:


 

01 - For the Dressing: mix all the Ingredients, cover with cling film and chill in the fridge.



02 - In a large pot, boil some Water and cook the Pork Slices for 5 minutes, just enough to make sure bacteria is killed. When you put the slices in the water, put them in one by one.

03 - Remove from hot Water and put in ice water to cool. Once cool drain the Water, set aside and let dry.



04 - Place Lettuce and Mizuna Salad in 4 small plates.

05 - Chop the tomato and add it to the plates.

06 - Top with Pork slices.

07 - Cover the plates with cling film and chill the portions in the fridge for 1 hour.



08 - Remove from the fridge and drizzle the Dressing before serving.
