TRADITIONAL JAPANESE RECIPE: This is how to make Matcha Latte. This classic Japanese recipe will help you through learning the art of Matcha Latte making. Matcha is a green tea powder packed with antioxidants and amino acids that seems to have stress-reducing effects.

Matcha Latte is more or less like a latte or a capuccino... but with Matcha tea, giving the drink a wonderfully vibrant green color that will brighten up your morning.

Combined with the creamy and comforting warmth of a latte, this recipe is the perfect balance of flavor and nutrition.

    720ml Milk

    10g Matcha
    (Green Tea Powder)



    Optional:

    Sugar

    Matcha Powder
    ( to sprikle on top )



    Tools Needed:

    Chasen
    ( Japanese Bamboo Whisk )

    Milk Frother
    ( or Coffee Machine with Steamer )

    Fine-Mesh Strainer




  • Imperial:

     

     

     

    1.58lb Milk

    0.35oz Matcha
    (Green Tea Powder)



    Optional:

    Sugar

    Matcha Powder
    ( to sprikle on top )



    Tools Needed:

    Chasen
    ( Japanese Bamboo Whisk )

    Milk Frother
    ( or Coffee Machine with Steamer )

    Fine-Mesh Strainer




  • Cups:

     

     

     

    3 cups of Milk

    3 level teaspoons Matcha
    (Green Tea Powder)



    Optional:

    Sugar

    Matcha Powder
    ( to sprikle on top )



    Tools Needed:

    Chasen
    ( Japanese Bamboo Whisk )

    Milk Frother
    ( or Coffee Machine with Steamer )

    Fine-Mesh Strainer




 

 

 

Directions:


 

01 - Sift the Matcha Powder into a cup or bowl using a fine-mesh strainer.

02 - Using a Japanese bamboo whisk called Chasen (or any other whisk) whisk quickly until no lumps are left. Set aside.



03 - Warm and froath the Milk to 65C / 140F.



04 - Pour the steamed Milk into the Matcha prepared in STEP 01 ending with a layer of foamed Milk on top.

05 - Sprinkle extra Matcha Powder on top with a fine-mesh strainer. Serve.





Notes:


 

- Sift the Matcha powder if you want all lumps to break easily.

- Sugar can be added at any point.

- Use whole Milk if you want nice lasting froth. Low fat is ok but not recommended. Non-fat Milk is hard to froth.

- If you are Vegan or Vegetarian, use regular Soy Milk, Oat Milk or even Almond Milk. Oat Milk froths better though.
