Japanese Instant Ramen with Seafood and Vegetables Recipe

TRADITIONAL JAPANESE RECIPE: Apart from being incredibly easy to make, Instant Ramen with Vegetables has such an unique flavor. Instant ramen is like painting, all you need are vegetables.

Instant noodles were created by inventor Momofuku Ando in Japan and marketed in 1958 by Ando's company, Nissin, under the brand name Chikin Ramen. The instant noodle became ready to eat just in two minutes by adding boiling water and due to its price and novelty, Chikin Ramen was considered a luxury item initially, as Japanese grocery stores typically sold fresh noodles for one-sixth their price. Despite this, instant noodles eventually gained immense popularity, especially after being promoted by Mitsubishi Corporation.

    200gr Cabbage
    ( 2.5cm squares )

    100gr Frozen Seafood Mix

    60ml Water

    3 Green Onions
    ( cut diagonally )

    2 packages Instant Ramen Noodles

    0.25 medium Carrot
    ( sliced thinly )

    10gr Water

    9gr Sesame Oil

    5gr Sake

    4.5gr Oil

    4gr Potato Starch
    ( or Corn Starch )

    2.5gr Soy Sauce

    Salt
    ( to taste )

    White Pepper
    ( to taste )




  • Imperial:

     

     

     

    7oz Cabbage
    ( 1in squares )

    3.52oz Frozen Seafood Mix

    2.11oz Water

    3 Green Onions
    ( cut diagonally )

    2 packages Instant Ramen Noodles

    0.25 / 0.33 medium Carrot
    ( sliced thinly )

    0.35oz Water

    0.31oz Sesame Oil

    0.17oz Sake

    0.15oz Oil

    0.14oz Potato Starch
    ( or Corn Starch )

    0.08oz Soy Sauce

    Salt
    ( to taste )

    White Pepper
    ( to taste )




  • Cups:

     

     

     

    2 cups Cabbage
    ( 2.5cm / 1in squares )

    1 cup Frozen Seafood Mix

    0.25 cup Water

    3 Green Onions
    ( cut diagonally )

    2 packages Instant Ramen Noodles

    0.25 / 0.33 medium Carrot
    ( sliced thinly )

    2 teaspoons Water

    2 teaspoons Sesame Oil

    1 teaspoon Sake

    1 teaspoon Oil

    1 teaspoon Potato Starch
    ( or Corn Starch )

    0.5 teaspoon Soy Sauce

    Salt
    ( to taste )

    White Pepper
    ( to taste )




 

 

 

Directions:


 

01 - Cut the Vegetables accordingly. Set Aside.

02 - In a small cup, mix the Potato Starch and 10gr / 0.35oz / 2 teaspoons of Water and set aside.



03 - Heat the Oil in a frying pan at medium heat.

04 - Put Cabbage and Carrot in the pan and stir fry for a minute or two.

05 - Add the Frozen Seafood and 60gr / 2.11oz / 0.25 cup of Water, and cook for 2 minutes covered.



06 - Uncover the pan and season with Salt, Pepper, Sake, Soy Sauce, Green Onions and the Potato Starch mixture ( STEP 02 ) and keep stiring until it thikens a little bit.

08 - Finally, pour in the Sesame Oil. Stir well and set aside covered, while you now prepare the Noodles.



09 - Boil the Instant Ramen according to the package instructions.

10 - Divide the Noodles into 2 bowls, and top with Vegetables.
