TRADITIONAL JAPANESE RECIPE: Honey Soy Chicken is probably the easiest side dish you'll ever make. It really takes 15 minutes to make it and it's incredibly tasty.

Every home in Japan has a few reliable side dish Chicken recipes for late nights, Honey Soy Chicken recipe requires minimal prepping and cooking knowledge. You'll need to marinade your favourite Chicken bits in Honey, Sake and Soy sauce.

Honey Soy Chicken goes well with plain rice, a salad, miso soup or even some bread. It's a delicious side dish that works well with everything.

Ingredients:





  Conversions


  • Metric:

     

     

     

    900gr Chicken
    ( any Chicken parts )

    Kosher Salt / Sea Salt
    ( to taste )

    Freshly Ground Black Pepper
    ( to taste )



    For the Seasonings:

    85gr Soy Sauce

    80gr Sake
    ( or substitute with dry sherry)

    60gr Honey




  • Imperial:

     

     

     

    2lb Chicken
    ( any Chicken parts )

    Kosher Salt / Sea Salt
    ( to taste )

    Freshly Ground Black Pepper
    ( to taste )



    For the Seasonings:

    2.99oz Soy Sauce

    2.82oz Sake
    ( or substitute with dry sherry)

    2.11oz Honey




  • Cups:

     

     

     

    About 12 pieces of Chicken
    ( any Chicken parts )

    Kosher Salt / Sea Salt
    ( to taste )

    Freshly Ground Black Pepper
    ( to taste )



    For the Seasonings:

    5.33 tablespoons Soy Sauce

    2.66 tablespoons Sake
    ( or substitute with dry sherry)

    5.33 tablespoons Honey




 

 

 

Directions:


 

01 - Rinse the Chicken under cold running water, place on a small plate and set aside.

02 - Combine all the Seasonings in a Ziploc bag and mix well.

03 - With a fork, prick the Chicken all over and season with Salt and Pepper.

04 - Add the Chicken in the Ziploc bag, squeeze the air out and close the bag .

05 - Mix the Chicken well moving the bag.

06 - Marinate for at least 1 hour... better overnight.



Method 01:

07a - Preheat the oven to 220C / 425F.

08a - Place the Chicken in a baking pan.

09a - Pour all the Sauce over the Chicken

10a - Bake for about 20 minutes. Serve immediately.



Method 02:

07b - Slightly oil a large frying pan with a some vegetable Oil.

08b - Place the Chicken in a frying pan.

09b - Pour all the Sauce over the Chicken

10b - Cook for about 15 minutes. Serve immediately.





Notes:


- Chicken: the longer you marinade it the better.

- If you can't find Sake, either change country or use dry sherry (lol)

This is one of those dishes you can't get over it. I love cooking with honey but I'm not a fan of alcohol, my version is very simple but still yummy!
