TRADITIONAL ITALIAN RECIPE: this Celery Tomato Sauce Pasta is a sort of Bolognese Sauce without all that fuss that normally comes with it.

 

A good tomato sauce is the foundation for so many wonderful dishes—pizza, pasta, chicken, and fish. Here is a recipe for a super nutritious Tomato and Celery Sauce.

 

The benefits of celery are today quite clear, it's an excellent source of antioxidants and beneficial enzymes, in addition to vitamins and minerals such as vitamin K, vitamin C, potassium, folate and vitamin B6 and protects the lining of the stomach and reduced the incidence of ulcers.

 

You won't need to add pepper in this sauce, but if you want it... go with it.

Ingredients:





  Conversions


  • Metric:

     

     

     

    500gr Chopped Tomato Sauce

     

    400gr Short Pasta

     

    2 Carrots

     

    2 Celery

     

    Half Onion

    ( you can even use 1 full onion )

     

    Olive Oil

     

    3 Garlic Cloves

     

    Salt




  • Imperial:

     

     

     

    1.1lb Chopped Tomato Sauce

     

    1lb Short Pasta

     

    2 Carrots

     

    2 Celery

     

    Half Onion

    ( you can even use 1 full onion )

     

    Olive Oil

     

    3 Garlic Cloves

     

    Salt




  • Cups:

     

     

     

    2 Cups Chopped Tomato Sauce

     

    5 handfuls Short Pasta

     

    2 Carrots

     

    2 Celery

     

    Half Onion

    ( you can even use 1 full onion )

     

    Olive Oil

     

    3 Garlic Cloves

     

    Salt




 

 

 

Directions:


 

01 - Chop Onions, Carrots, Garlic and Celery.

 

02 - Place the chopped vegetables into an electric mixer, add some water and mix for 10-15 seconds.

 

03 - Move the mixture into a deep saucepan.

 

04 - Add Chopped Tomato Sauce, Salt and Extra Virgin Olive Oil and cook over medium-low heat for about 20 minutes.

 

05 - While you are waiting for the Sauce, cook Pasta in salted water.

 

06 - Drain Pasta al dente and combine it with the Sauce. Finish cooking ( about 1 minute ). Serve.

I usually eat tomato sauce made of cherry tomatoes, fabulous cherry tomatoes from the farmer near my house but this dish has such an amazing flavour and texture. A keeper.
