British Moist Orange Cake Recipe

TRADITIONAL BRITISH RECIPE: This is probably the best Orange Cake I've ever make. The recipe is incredibly easy, although Oil, not Extra virgin Oilive Oil, but Vegetable Oil, is used.

 

My british mom gave me this traditional recipe.

 

I have very simple tastes when it comes to sweets, I like to make my own cakes, with few simple ingredients. Perhaps it is because I do not often have the patience to spend hours putting together elaborate desserts, but when I am in the mood to bake something, it can usually be put together quickly and without too many fancy ingredients.

 

This kind of Orange cake came to the UK from morocco, where Vegetable Oil is very much used in cakes.

 

This recipe will make a super moist Orange Cake, so moist that it's rarely served with frosting.

 

It takes just minutes to get into the oven, and will keep fresh for several days – in the unlikely event it lasts that long!

    500gr White Sugar

     

    150gr Fresh Orange Juice

     

    375gr All Purpose Flour

     

    200ml Vegetable Oil

     

    180gr Carrots

    ( shredded )

     

    3 Eggs

     

    Grated Orange Zest

    ( Organic )

     

    10gr Baking Soda

     

    10gr Ground Cinnamon

     

    10gr Vanilla Extract

     

    4gr Salt

     

    1gr Ground Nutmeg




  • Imperial:

     

     

     

    1.1lb White Sugar

     

    5.2oz Fresh Orange Juice

     

    13.7oz All Purpose Flour

     

    7oz Vegetable Oil

     

    6.3oz Carrots

    ( shredded )

     

    3 Eggs

     

    Grated Orange Zest

    ( Organic )

     

    0.35oz Baking Soda

     

    0.35oz Ground Cinnamon

     

    0.35oz Vanilla Extract

     

    0.14oz Salt

     

    0.03oz Ground Nutmeg




  • Cups:

     

     

     

    2 cups White Sugar

     

    1 cup Fresh Orange Juice

     

    3 cups All Purpose Flour

     

    1 cups Vegetable Oil

     

    2 cups Carrots

    ( shredded )

     

    3 Eggs

     

    Grated Orange Zest

    ( Organic )

     

    2.5 teaspoons Baking Soda

     

    2.5 teaspoons Ground Cinnamon

     

    2 teaspoons Vanilla Extract

     

    1 teaspoon Salt

     

    0.25 teaspoon Ground Nutmeg




 

 

 

Directions:


 

01 - Preheat oven to 175C / 350F.

 

02 - Grease a regular baking dish.

 

03 - In a bowl, combine Flour, Sugar, Baking Soda, Ground Cinnamon, Salt, and Nutmeg.

 

04 - Using an electric mixer, beat Carrots, Mandarin Oranges, Oil, Eggs, Vanilla Extract, and Orange Zest

 

05 - Combine the two bowls, and mix well until the Batter is smooth.

 

06 - Pour the Batter into the prepared baking dish.

 

07 - Bake for about 45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the Cake comes out clean.
