Juicy Broiled Burgers Recipe

TRADITIONAL AMERICAN RECIPE: There are hundreds of ways to make a burger, so why would you follow this recipe? You might say. Thing is, this an old traditional recipe, you might want to save it in your bookmarks.

 

When it comes to burgers off the grill, we all want the same thing: a tender and juicy burger that we can really sink our teeth into.

 

It's important not to over-handle the burgers once they're on the grill. Flip them just once and take care when you move them so the burgers don't get squished.

 

Never flatten the burgers with the back of your spatula. This just presses out those juices and doesn't help you get any better char marks.

Ingredients:





  Conversions


  • Metric:

     

     

     

    500gr Freshly Ground Beef

    ( preferably the Blue Label Burger Blend )

     

    4 Soft Hamburger Buns

    ( lightly toasted )

     

    4 American Cheese Slices

    ( or Cheddar )

     

    Kosher Salt

     

    Freshly Ground Black Pepper

     

     

     

    For the Onions:

     

    1 Large Red Onion

     

    Butter and Oil

     

    5gr Sugar




  • Imperial:

     

     

     

    1.1lb Freshly Ground Beef

    ( preferably the Blue Label Burger Blend )

     

    4 Soft Hamburger Buns

    ( lightly toasted )

     

    4 American Cheese Slices

    ( or Cheddar )

     

    Kosher Salt

     

    Freshly Ground Black Pepper

     

     

     

    For the Onions:

     

    1 Large Red Onion

     

    Butter and Oil

     

    0.17oz Sugar




  • Cups:

     

     

     

    1 cup Freshly Ground Beef

    ( preferably the Blue Label Burger Blend )

     

    4 Soft Hamburger Buns

    ( lightly toasted )

     

    4 American Cheese Slices

    ( or Cheddar )

     

    Kosher Salt

     

    Freshly Ground Black Pepper

     

     

     

    For the Onions:

     

    1 Large Red Onion

     

    Butter and Oil

     

    1 teaspoon Sugar




 

 

 

Directions:


 

01 - Preheat broiler to high.

 

02 - Divide the Meat into equal 150gr / 5.2oz portions and gently shape each one into a patty 10cm / 4in wide by approximately 7cm / 2.7in thick.

 

03 - Place on flat surface and create a dimple ( 1cm / 0.4in deep and 7cm / 2.7in across ) in the center of the patty by pushing down with three or four fingers.

 

04 - Season generously with Salt and Pepper.

 

 

 

For the Onions:

 

05 - Slice the Onion and sautee in a pan with Oil.

 

06 - Add the Butter and Sugar and cook until caramelized.

 

 

 

07 - Place the Meat 7cm / 2.7in above the broiler elements or flame.

 

08 - Broil for 3 minutes or until the top is well browned and begging to char.

 

09 - Flip and continue to broil.

 

10 - Top each patty with a slice of Cheese and place back under broiler for 25 seconds to melt.

 

11 - Place the Meat on buns, top with Onions, serve.





Notes:


 

- To keep the Onions from drying out as they cook, add some Water to the pan.
